What is a swap?

Modified on Thu, 6 Feb at 6:05 PM

swap is the interest charged or earned for holding a trading position overnight. This fee, also known as a rollover fee, is applied to the client's account at 23:59 platform time based on the instrument's specifications (excluding Invest.MT5 account types).

A swap can take different forms, such as a currency swap in Forex or an interest rate swap in Indices.

The exact swap amount depends on factors such as the instrument, position size, and current rates. You can find detailed information in the Contract Specifications section on our website.

Swap Calculation:

Basic formula:

Swap = 1 point value × Swap Value

For interest rate swaps:

Swap = Volume × Contract size × Price at the time of charging × Swap rate / 100

For more details on swap values and how they apply to different instruments, visit our dedicated section.
